After an intense campaign led by the Kingdom of Morocco against the Saharawi human rights activists following the arrest of seven Sahrawi activists, and after the confiscation of passports of seven more, there's a new name on the list, the activist Hmad Hamad.
Subject: Activist Hmad Hamad's passport confiscated
Subject: Assault of the Sahrawi activist Mr. Cherif Baiji.
Location: Bir Jdid Aaiun / Western Sahara.
Date: 06 - January - 2010 11: 00 pm GMT.
22/12/09 The Moroccan public security forces proceeded to assault the house of the family Ahl Daha, known as "Jouda" in the city of Smara, Western Sahara.

INTERPRETER: Sure. Mr. Minister, if we understood correctly, you discussed the issue of Sahara. Right now, there is a problem with a Western Sahara citizen that you were aware of. What type of cooperation did you ask from the United States over that issue? Also, last week, it was said that there is no intervention necessary right now from the king. At what point would the king’s intervention be necessary?

The Moroccan authorities confiscated Sahrawi human rights defender Aminatou Haidar’s passport on 13 November and expelled her from the country the following day, leaving her stranded in Lanzarote Airport, in Spain’s Canary Islands. She has been on hunger strike since 15 November in protest.
