Norwegian Parliament calls on Government to put pressure on Morocco to allow self-determination of Saharawi people:

Oslo (Norway), May 6, 2010: The Norwegian Parliament called Tuesday in Oslo on the government of its country to "put pressure on Morocco to comply with the resolutions of the international legitimacy, and help the Saharawi people to exercise its inalienable right to self-determination and independence, according to sources close to the Polisario Front representation in Norway.

During a debate held Tuesday on the question of Western Sahara, several MPs, including party leaders have urged the Norwegian government to "adopt firm and clear position in respect to the Moroccan occupation of Western Sahara ".

Participants of in the Development Party, Socialist Left Party, Christian Democratic Party have called for respecting the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination and putting pressure on the Moroccan Government to comply with the legality and international law.

The Norwegian parliament has condemned the serious violations of human rights committed by Morocco against the Saharawi civilians in the occupied territories of Western Sahara, calling on the Moroccan Government to respect human rights in Western Sahara and release Sahrawi political prisoners languishing in Moroccan prisons.

On the other hand, the Norwegian Parliament has urged Norwegian companies for the immediate cessation of their activities in Western Sahara, considering that these contribute to the pillage of natural resources in occupied territories of Western Sahara
