Santiago (Chile), September 4, 2010: The Chilean Parliament called Thursday on the President of its country the urgent recognition of Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic to fulfill previous commitments and historical reasons interference in the core principles of Chilean nation.

According to the Regulation 143 which adopted by the Chilean parliament, it strongly called the President of its country, Sebastián Piñera, for reasons linked to the history and institutions of the Chilean nation to urgently recognize the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic and immediately establish diplomatic relations between both countries.

The Regulation drew to the illegal Moroccan occupation of Western Sahara since 1975, causing gross and continued violations of human rights committed by the Moroccan state as had been condemned by the Parliament in its Regulation No.02 which ratified March 18, 2010.

In response to this brave position, the Saharawi Ambassador Charged with Mission in Chile, Mohamed Zrug, applauded the historical and political value of this agreement, thanking members of the Chilean Parliament of their support to the right and justice.

A parliamentary team represent all political forces will work to call the Chilean government in the coming days to implement the Regulation, according to the Saharawi Ambassador.
