Human rights activists returning from Sahrawi refugee camps subjected to repressive actions by Moroccan occupying authorities:
Laayoune, May 7, 2010: Sahrawi human rights activists returning from Sahrawi refugee camps were subjected to "provocations and oppressive actions" by the Moroccan occupying authorities, according to eyewitnesses.
The source reported Thursday that after returning from the refugee camps and arriving in the occupied city of Laayoune, the delegation decided to move to the occupied city of Smara to transmit the "resistance and solidarity message" of the refugees with their struggle to reclaim national sovereignty.
A member of the delegation confirmed that they were subjected to "repressive actions" and went through severe surveillance and tight security siege until their arrival to the house of Sahrawi activist Sukena Jedhlu where they were greeted by citizens Sahrawi with national flags and anti Moroccan occupation banners.
On this occasion, the human rights delegation members made presentation on the recent visit that led them to the Sahrawi refugee camps, underlining that any attempt to "seize the right" of the Sahrawi people to self-determination "will be dashed by the resistance" of the intifada of independence heroes led by the detainees in Moroccan prisons.
