Strasbourg (France) 24 Mai 2010: A demonstration was organised Sunday in front of the European Parliament in Strasbourg, calling it to not enter into economic agreements with Morocco on the Sahrawi soils, at the close of the first German – Sahrawi – French Youth Conference, held in Berlin, between 18 and 22 May, according to the Polisario Representation in Berlin.

The protestors urged the European Union to put pressure on Morocco to respect human rights in Western Sahara and to cease harassment of Sahrawi activists and called for the release of all Saharawi political prisoners languishing in Moroccan jails.

The protesters also demanded in a letter delivered to the European Union to resolve the conflict in Western Sahara, by enabling the Saharawi people of its right to self-determination, stating that this right is guaranteed by international law and legitimacy.

The first part of the German – French – Sahrawi Youth Conference was held in Berlin, Germany, 12 and 16 May, whereas the second part was held in the French city of Strasbourg, 18 and 22.
