Sahrawi demonstrators injured after violent intervention by Moroccan authorities:
Laayoune, June 14, 2010: Seven Sahrawi citizens were injured in the occupied city of Laayoune, when the Moroccan authorities intervened violently to suppress a peaceful demonstration demanding the right to employment and benefit from their plentiful resources, according to the Ministry of Occupied Territories and Communities Abroad.
The source indicated that the Moroccan police carried out a "violent and aggressive" intervention against Sahrawi demonstrators who peacefully gathered in Dcheira and Nekgir squares, forcing them to enter into the headquarters of the Moroccan General Confederation and Union of Labour and sit-in them, which enabled the police to strengthen its presence in the area, surround the demonstrators in it and attack them again.
The source confirmed that Sahrawi citizens severely beaten with sticks and batons, in addition to confiscation of several mobile phones and cameras.
