Abduction and torture of a Sahraoui human rights defender in El-Aiun city:
El-Aiun Western Sahara / Thursday, June 17, evening, a Moroccan police patrol abducted Hasana Aalaia in a public street in the city of El-Aaiun - Western Sahara
The Saharawi activist was beaten and interrogated before being released in a deserted place far from the city.
According to Hasana Aalaia, 22 years old, the patrol police elements surrounded him in the street on 24 November while he was accompanied by his colleague, Mohammad Hali, 23.
They punched and forced him to ride the patrol car.
The investigation and the beating lasted 45 minutes, during which he was handcuffed.
The investigation was focused on his relationships with some human rights defenders and his intention to organize festive events for the anniversary of the ZAMLA uprising
After the beatings, the police offered him a flag of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic to wipe the blood that covered his face. Hasana refused to use it as the flag for which he campaigned
He was released in the desert far from the city near the airport, wounded in the face, legs and back.
The police told him to go and show everyone what happened to him in order that everyone knows what they practice.
