Moroccan occupying forces violently disperses peaceful demonstration of Spaniards sympathizers:

El Aaiun, August 29, 2010: The Moroccan repressive forces violently intervened Saturday against a peaceful demonstration held by Spaniards sympathizers at Smara’s street, El Aaiun, as reported by the correspondent of Saharawi Press Service into the place.

14 sympathizers out of 17 from the Canary Islands organized at 6.30 GMT a peaceful demonstration to demand the Saharawi right of self-determination and denounce the human rights violations committed by the Moroccan state against the Saharawi people in the Occupied Territories of Western Sahara, according to the same source

The coordinator of the delegation in the Canary Islands told the Saharawi Press Agency that the demonstrators were surprised by the Moroccan policemen in civilian clothes and carrying Moroccan flags in an attempt to organize a counter demonstration.

“The official police intervened violently against the Spaniards demonstrators, due to wounding of all members of the group, the most serious injury was Carmen at her eye level” the Spanish coordinator told to the Saharawi Press Service.

She added that the members of the group were detained for hours at the central police station in the occupied city of El Aaiun, where two of them interrogated by the police and Moroccan intelligence.

She also revealed that the Moroccan occupying forces released the Spanish sympathizers in groups starting at 2:00pm until the 5:00pm Sunday.

The spokeswoman of the Movement of Spaniards Activists said that this simple peaceful demonstration, which held by the Spaniards sympathizers, was not calling all this violent and barbarism from the Moroccan authorities, highlighting that many Sahrawi women and demonstrators had also been beaten, which due to varying injuries.

Moreover, the Mexican observer, Antonio Velazquez, and his Catalan friend, Isabel Terrassa, took part in the demonstration along with the 14 activists, who had already exposed to threaten and beating with two Spaniards on the ground of their participation on receiving the Saharawi activist’s delegation, which participated on the activities of the Summer University of SADR Cadres in Boumerdes, Algeria.

It is note worthy that the Mexican observer and his Catalan friend had threatened of using rape and murder against them several times by the Moroccan police, according their dispatch to the media.
